Allo

One monthly limit, split into days. Help with the app, and answers to what it does with your money.

How it works

1

Say what comes in

Your take-home pay for the month, after tax. Everything else is worked out from this one number.

2

Pick how much of it can go

Choose the share you're allowing yourself to spend. What you hold back is what you save — that's the only limit Allo keeps.

3

Spend it a day at a time

Allo divides the month's budget across its days. Days you come in under roll forward into a buffer for the rest of the month.

The three screens

Today

What's left of today's share, the day strip for the month so far, and everything you've logged today.

Month

Spent against budget, your pace through the month, and where the money went by category.

Saved

The month's saving, line by line: income minus budget is what the plan saves, and the days you came in under add to it.

Common questions

How do purchases get into Allo?

Three ways. Add one by hand with the quick-entry button; ask Siri or Shortcuts to "Log spending in Allo"; or hand Allo the text of a bank alert with "Capture spending in Allo" and let it read the purchase out of the notification. There's also "What's left in Allo", which answers without opening the app.

Does Allo connect to my bank?

No. There is no bank login, no account linking, and no financial data aggregator. Automatic logging works on the text of a notification your bank already sent to your phone — passed to Allo by a Shortcut you set up yourself. Allo pulls out the amount and the merchant, and ignores refunds, declines, and deposits.

How does Allo know what category a purchase belongs to?

It reads the merchant name with Apple's on-device Foundation Models and picks one of twelve categories. This runs entirely on your iPhone and needs iOS 26 on a device with Apple Intelligence turned on. Without it, a purchase stays unfiled unless one of your own keyword rules catches it — and you can always set the category yourself.

What is the buffer, and when does it reset?

The buffer is this month's daily budget you haven't got round to spending: every finished day's leftover, added up. A quiet Tuesday adds to it, a heavy Friday draws it down. It rolls forward within the month and starts again on the 1st — it isn't savings, it's money the month has already allowed you.

Why doesn't today count towards what I've saved?

Today is still being lived in. Allo only counts days that have finished, so the figure on Saved matches the day-by-day list underneath it exactly, instead of moving every time you buy a coffee.

Can I be reminded before I run out?

Yes. In Settings, turn on alerts and pick the points in the day's or the month's budget where you want a nudge, plus an optional weekly summary. They're local notifications from your own phone, and nothing is sent at all while alerts are off.

Are there widgets?

Three, one per screen: Today, Month, and Saved. Today also comes in the lock screen sizes. They read the same figures the app does and refresh whenever something you log moves a number.

Is my data private?

There's no account and no server. Your income, budget, and every transaction stay on your device, and nothing is uploaded anywhere. Full detail is on the privacy page.

How do I clear my transactions?

Settings ▸ Data has a clear option that removes your logged transactions while keeping your budget and categories. It can't be undone. Deleting the app removes everything, including the budget.

Does Allo have a dark mode?

Yes — Settings ▸ Appearance lets you follow the system or pin Allo to light or dark.
