Every GIC you hold, across every bank — maturity dates, accrued interest, and one blended rate. Need help? Start here.
The basics
From the Portfolio tab, tap the + button and enter the institution, principal, rate, term, and maturity date. Choose simple or compound interest — and for compound, how often it compounds. You can edit any of it later.
Portfolio is your holdings: totals, a principal-weighted blended rate across everything you hold, and a filterable list of every certificate. Ladder is the same money arranged by time — a chronological run of maturities grouped by year, so you can see where the gaps are.
When you save a GIC with reminders enabled, the app will ask for notification permission the first time. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device — you'll get a notification at 9 AM on your chosen day(s) before maturity.
Yes. Go to iOS Settings → GIC Tracker → Notifications, and enable them there. The app doesn't have an in-app way to re-request permission once denied — that's an iOS restriction, not something we control.
Open the GIC's detail page and choose Renew, Auto-Renewed, or Cashed Out. If you renew, you can log the new term's details and the app links it to the original GIC, so the history stays in one chain.
Your data
No. GIC Tracker doesn't connect to your bank accounts and doesn't use a server — everything you enter is stored only on your device. The app has no networking code of any kind. See the privacy policy for details.
Only what you type in. Every GIC is entered by hand, which is also why nothing needs a bank login. Interest is calculated from the numbers you gave it, accrued to today.
No. GIC Tracker records and does arithmetic on certificates you already hold. It doesn't recommend products, rank institutions, or advise you on what to buy.
Good to know
iPhone and iPad, on iOS 18 or later. The app is available in English and Simplified Chinese.
Please email with as much detail as possible — device model, iOS version, and steps to reproduce, if it's a bug.
